Transport Canada Approved Fabrics

The Department of Transport Canada (DTC) has the most stringent fabric requirements of any approval body. For this reason, manufacturers of Canadian approved flotation devices are limited by the fabrics they can use on their products.

When fabric is exposed to ultra violet rays, it will degrade over time and eventually come apart. To ensure that PFD's will endure a reasonable lifespan for consumers, the CCG subjects PFD fabrics to 300 hours of ultra violet weather testing - this is the highest requirement there is for ultra violet degradation on PFD's.
